This beautiful brass idol depicts Lord Varaha Swami with Goddess Lakshmi, featuring excellent detailing. In this representation, Goddess Lakshmi is held in the hands of Lord Varaha. Varaha, meaning "boar," is the third avatar of the Hindu god Vishnu among the Dashavatara, the ten principal avatars. Varaha is most commonly associated with the legend of lifting the Earth (personified as the goddess Bhu Devi) out of the cosmic ocean. According to the legend, when the demon Hiranyaksha stole the earth and hid her in the primordial waters, Vishnu appeared as Varaha to rescue her. Varaha defeated the demon, retrieved the Earth from the ocean, and restored Bhudevi to her place in the universe.
